Namibia is a large and beautiful country with diverse landscapes and cultures, albeit a small population. It is a wilderness destination with vast uninhabited spaces, a country of mystery and intrigue. The terrain is often harsh and foreboding though there is life everywhere, even in the desert.
And it is a photographer’s dream, from the ochre colours of the wind-sculpted sand dunes and bare mountains that glow in the morning sun to the unusual landscapes, ethnic cultures and desert life.
Explore the bare plains of the Namib Desert, the apricot-coloured dunes of Sossusvlei, the romantic coastal town of Swakopmund nestled between the Ocean and the Desert, the rough terrain of Damaraland and the abundant wildlife in the world renowned Etosha National Park on this classic Namibia tour.

Itinerary
DAY 1
VILLA VIOLET GUESTHOUSE, WINDHOEK

Arrival at Hosea Kutako (Windhoek International) Airport, where you will be met by your guide. Subsequent transfer to the capital of Namibia for check-in at a guesthouse.
Situated in the leafy suburb of Klein Windhoek and recently renovated, Villa Violet B&B offers a sparkling new, fresh and modern accommodation option when visiting the city center.
The en-suite rooms are in front of a grassy central area. Each room has an air-conditioner/heater, flat-screen TV and safe, wireless internet, secure parking and a laundry service available to guests.

The B&B is in close proximity to restaurants and shops, and a short drive away from the city center, making it not only an appealing place to stay but a convenient stop when entering the country.
After check-in at the accommodation establishment, you will be taken on a city tour.
Windhoek is a city of many contrasts. Modern skyscrapers blend with historic buildings dating from the turn of the century. Several buildings from the German colonial era have been preserved and restored to fulfill useful functions in the community today. Some of the sights you will see on your tour are the Parliament Building, also known as the “Ink Place”, the Lutheran Church and the Railway Station.

DAY 2
BAGATELLE KALAHARI LODGE, KALAHARI

After breakfast departure from Windhoek and drive via Rehoboth into the red dunes of the Kalahari Desert where you arrive in the early afternoon.
Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch is located on the fringe of the Southern Kalahari, surrounded by a mix of tree and scrub savannah. The reserve itself is crisscrossed by rolling, vegetated dunes, typical of the Kalahari.
Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch inspires a sense of the traditional safari and the pioneering spirit of Africa all rolled into one unique experience.
The Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch’s nerve center is an old rambling farmhouse, renovated as a reception area, comfortable lounge, dining room, bar, wine cellar, office, wellness centre and well-stocked library.
Well separated from each other, the chalets stand alone on stilts on top of the red dunes, with unsurpassed views to the south-west accross the dune landscape. Each with ensuite facitilities bath and shower, air-conditioning, coffee/tea station and mini bar.
Later today we enjoy a sundowner drive on the lodge property.

DAYS 3 & 4
DESERT CAMP, SESRIEM, NAMIB DESERT

The routing takes you further south via Maltahöhe into the low plains of the Namib Desert to Desert Camp, which is located nearby the entrance gate to the Sossusvlei dunes. Self-catering at its best amidst unparalleled Desert Beauty…
Desert Camp is situated just 5 kms from the entrance gate to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon in the Namib Nauklauft Park. Nestled under centuries old camel thorn trees, Desert Camp offers unsurpassed views over the desert landscapes and surrounding mountains – An absolute must for the nature lover and photographer!
The 28 affordable self-catering accommodation units are equipped with an en-suite bathroom, shaded veranda with a fitted kitchenette, barbeque, power points and an adjacent parking area. Each air-conditioned room features twin beds and a fold-out sleeper couch to accommodate 2 small children (under 12) free of charge when sharing with 2 full paying adults. Utility boxes with most utensils needed are available at reception and fresh food supplies can be ordered daily.
Facilities at the main building include a fully stocked and serviced bar with television, a sparkling swimming pool and 2 communal bomas with cooking and wash up facilities which are perfect for groups travelling together.
Meals can be enjoyed at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge restaurant and their Adventure Centre offers a range of exciting desert activities to explore the area.
A stocked shop and fuel are available at the Sossus Oasis Service Station.
On Day 4 we have a very early departure into the Namib Naukluft Park to witness one of Namibia’s most scenic attractions – the Sossusvlei and the highest dunes of the world. Visit the nearby Deadvlei, a dried out natural water pan with its dead acacia tree trunks rising to the blue sky.
The Sesriem Canyon is another attraction worthwhile seeing en route back to the lodge. A relaxing sundowner on top of the nearby ridge ends off an unforgettable day in the desert.

DAYS 5 & 6
SWAKOPMUND GUESTHOUSE, SWAKOPMUND
Standard Ensuite Room – Bed & Breakfast
The route takes you north via the Kuiseb Canyon to Swakopmund. This quaint desert town with its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere hedged by desert and sea, is enhanced by lush green lawns and palm trees.
Situated in the town centre, a mere five-minute walk from the beach and main shopping area, Swakopmund Guesthouse is owned and run by the Borg family providing excellent ambiance and service for guests wanting to indulge in a comfortable stay-over close to the ocean. The guesthouse offers five standard rooms, six luxury rooms, and three suites. The guesthouse is a bed & breakfast facility, offering more than just the usual by providing guests with a scrumptious breakfast buffet, catering for the more upmarket traveller, with facilities ranging from laundry services to “anything else that guests might ask for”. This includes a shuttle service and wheelchair-friendly accommodation. The Swakopmund Guesthouse is run with an eco-friendly approach, making use of solar energy. This is an owner-run property, with top management being close by at all times making sure the service level is at its best throughout your stay.
All standard rooms have an en-suite bathroom with under tile heating and aircons. All rooms come complete with minibar, television and a coffee station. All rooms are equipped with 3-point, Euro and USB-plugs.
On Day 6 a dolphin cruise has been booked for you. You will be picked up at your accommodation and driven to the nearby town of Walvis Bay, from where your marine cruise departs. To round the trip off you will be spoilt with fresh Walvis Bay oysters, snacks and cold sparkling wine on board as you make your way back to the docking station and then back to Swakopmund.

DAYS 7 & 8
MALANSRUS TENTED CAMP, TWYFELFONTEIN
Safari Tent – Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
Departure from Swakopmund along the Atlantic Coast towards the north. Visit the lichen fields near Wlotzka’s Baken before continuing to Henties Bay, a small holiday resort. Onwards to the seal colony at Cape Cross. After visiting the seals, the journey continues via Uis towards Twyfelfontein.
The Malansrus Tented Camp is located on the banks of a sidearm of the Aba Huab River, offering easy access to the main sites and highlights of the Twyfelfontein area and is accessible by all kinds of vehicles.
The 10 en-suite guest tents and main tented area are built under shady Mopane trees, typical of the Damaraland region, with spectacular views onto a set of granite “koppies” close by. This all new bespoke spacious tented accommodation provides the ideal overnight facility for the guests seeking the adventure of a tented camp without sacrificing luxury.
The guest tents are 43 sqm in size and have en suite shower, wash basin and flush toilet and limited 220V electricity.
The main area consists of a large modern mess tent with lounge and small bar area. The dining area leads out to an outside shaded seating area and fire pit. You can enjoy and relax at the pool, and at a fire pit, the evenings can be spent in a relaxed atmosphere.
A full English breakfast buffet will be served at the start of the day. Dinner will consist of a three-course set menu.
Limited WiFi is available at the main area only. No cellphone signal is available.
Breakfast and picnic packs will be on offer for guests wanting to depart early for Twyfelfontein or other destinations.
Guided trips to Twyfelfontein and surrounding areas are on offer, as well as a half day elephant drive or a combination of both.
On the morning of Day 8 you will experience the desert-adapted elephants in the Huab and Aba-Huab dry riverbeds with your guide. In the afternoon pay a visit to the Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings, a world heritage site.

DAYS 9 & 10
ETOSHA VILLAGE, SOUTHERN ETOSHA

Leaving Malansrus we travel to Kamanjab and further to the Etosha National Park. The Etosha National Park presents a wilderness experience that is unmatched in terms of privacy and landscape viewing. If time permits, your guide will drive into the National Park with you already this afternoon for a game drive.
Affordable comfort at Etosha National Park near Okaukuejo. Situated only 2 kms from the Andersson entrance gate to Etosha National Park, Etosha Village uniquely combines affordability with comfort, style and exquisite cuisine.
The 45 individual suites offer a fully air-conditioned bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a patio to enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. Two small children (under 12) can be accommodated with their parents on a fold-out sleeper couch in the unit.
Facilities include an open-plan bar with big screen television, 2 sparkling pools plus a kiddie pool, a restaurant serving delectable cuisine as well as a fully stocked utility and curio shop.
Explore Namibia’s animal kingdom with morning or full day Guided Game Drives to Etosha National Park. Enjoy the Walking Trails on the reserve where various small game can be spotted from the lookout decks and hides. Sundowner Drives and Stargazing Sessions allow guests to experience the magic of the sunsets and famous star studded skies. You can also visit an enchanted venue in the Mopane Forest for a magnificent Boma Dinner Experience for your special function or private dinner.
On Day 10 you will discover the mysteries of the African bush in Etosha National Park whilst travelling in an easterly direction through the park. We spend the day doing game drives in the park and visit the numerous waterholes that attract a large diversity of animal and bird species, many of these being endemic to the country.

DAY 11
ONGUMA BUSH CAMP, EASTERN ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Another day to discover the mysteries of the African bush in Etosha National Park whilst travelling in an easterly direction via Halali and Namutoni to Onguma Bushcamp.
Onguma Bush Camp is ideal for families who would like to have a base from which they can explore Etosha National Park. Upon your return, relax and cool off around the swimming pool while watching a spectacular sunset… and the children can run around on the lawns as this is an enclosed camp.
Dinner is served in the dinning area overlooking a large waterhole. Here you will be treated to an excellent combination of European and traditional African cuisine while watching the game coming to drink.
The new water-level hide will provide hours of game viewing opportunities for guests.

DAY 12
END OF SAFARI
Return journey via Okahandja to Windhoek. Okahandja is an important centre for woodcarvers from the north. This is a good place to pick a last souvenir. Arrival in Windhoek will be around 17 h 00 with transfer to Hosea Kutako Airport for check-in on your outbound flight.
