Then take to the skies and head downstream to the Lower Zambezi Valley with 3 nights at Time & Tide Chongwe Camp to enjoy the remarkable wildness and scenic diversity of this spectacular wildlife region on game drives and river excursions.
Now to Mfuwe by air to spend 3 nights at Kafunta River Lodge on the Luangwa River and 2 nights at Three Rivers Camp at the confluence of the Luangwa, Kapamba and Lusangazi Rivers in South Luangwa. Actvities include game drives and bush walks in South Luangwa National Park. You will discover the exceptional wildlife of one of Africa’s prime game sanctuaries, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is thrilling to the core.
Your safari ends with an air transfer back to Lusaka for your outbound flight.
Zambia is one of Africa’s prime wildlife destinations and shares the mighty Zambezi River and the magnificent Victoria Falls with Zimbabwe. The Victoria Falls, also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders), is one of the most incredible natural wonders of the world and popular tourist destinations in Southern Africa. It is located about 60 kms downstream from the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers (where Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe meet).
Measuring 1,7 kms wide and 108 metres high, the spectacular Falls has a myriad of different viewpoints and is best seen from both the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides.
Although Livingstone is the most visited destination in Zambia, it is the game parks of South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi, Kafue and Liuwa Plains that make Zambia one of the top wildlife destinations in Africa.
Baines River Camp is located just outside Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia and across the river from Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe. The Zambezi Valley is home to an abundance of wildlife and you will enjoy excellent game sightings on game drives in the Lower Zambezi National Park and boat cruises on the Zambezi River.
South Luangwa National Park is Zambia’s prime wildlife destination. It is a beautiful park with diverse habitats that support an abundance of big and small game and is well known for its good leopard sightings and walking safaris in the dry season. Large concentration of animals can be found in and around the Luangwa River making it one of Africa’s most densely populated wildlife reserves. At Kafunta River Lodge and Three Rivers Camp you will explore this special area on game drives and on foot allowing you the opportunity to witness wild Africa at its best.

DAYS 1 & 2
ILALA LODGE, VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE
Classic Room – Bed & Breakfast
On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport you will be met by a driver from Wild Horizons who will display a Welcome Board with your names on it. You will then be transferred to your hotel.
Ilala Lodge is well located in the small town of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, the closest hotel to the The Falls, a mere 8 minute walk, and close to all amenities, restaurants and markets. Animals such as warthog and impala often graze on the hotel lawns and entertain guests during mealtimes.
Your accommodation is in a Classic Room with facilities that include ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, overhead fan, television, tea/coffee station, room fridge, safe, free wifi and a sliding door opening onto a lush garden.
Hotel facilities include The Palm Restaurant and a swimming pool.

DAY 1 – ACTIVITY
ZAMBEZI ROYAL SUNSET CRUISE
This afternoon you will be collected by Wild Horizons for your Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi Royal.
The luxurious Zambezi Royal is a single level cruise boat and offers a unique and intimate way to view the Zambezi River. During the premium two hour guided Sunset cruise, departing daily from the Wild Horizons Jetty Site, you will enjoy 5-star service on board, consisting of imported wines and spirits, gourmet hot & cold canapés. A variety of game is consistently spotted, such as elephant, hippo, crocodiles, as well as a vast plethora of bird species. The Zambezi Royal is the optimum way to view the beautiful stunning scenery and surrounds of the upper Zambezi River.

DAY 2 – ACTIVITIES
GUIDED TOUR OF THE VICTORIA FALLS
Today you have two activities included on your itinerary. You will be collected by Wild Horizons for your Guided Tour of the Falls. En route you may be taken past the ‘Big Tree’ where you can stop and take photos. Then on to the magnificent Victoria Falls where you will be accompanied through the Rainforest on a 2 hour tour by a qualified guide who will give a brief history of the Falls as well as detailing the flora, fauna, bird & wildlife and other points of interest. Guides are also happy to assist clients with photographs whilst visiting this most spectacular of waterfalls. Raincoats are provided when needed.

DAY 2 – ACTIVITIES
ELEPHANT ENCOUNTER
This afternoon you will be collected by Wild Horizons for your Elephant Encounter activity. You will have the opportunity to unobtrusively interact with some of the biggest personalities in Africa in a pristine wilderness environment overflowing with raw natural beauty. You can spend time and connect with elephants in the most positive and natural way possible.
An open-design thatch Boma gives you an uninterrupted view of the beautiful Masuwe River and against this breathtaking back drop, you will be given an insightful and educational presentation on the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary and Orphanage. The sanctuary was founded on the principle of conservation, and one of the most effective ways to evoke a sense of environmental responsibility is to show what stands to be lost.
You will have an opportunity to talk to guides that have journeyed, physically and metaphorically, incredible distances with these elephants and learn more about the complexities of the individuals and the herd structures. You will learn about the elephant as well as their history and the threats facing elephant populations today, in an interesting and informative talk.
You will venture out into the bush to spend time with the elephant and the sight of the gentle grey mammals up close and personal will be imprinted on your mind long after you have returned home. Witness the special relationship the elephant keepers share with the animals and become a part of it. You will have the opportunity to take photographs with the elephants, marvel at their size and watch them behaving normally; browsing and interacting with one another.
After the encounter with these amazing creatures you will be offered a selection of refreshments in the cool of the Wild Horizons Elephant Wallow. A transfer back to your lodge concludes the experience.

DAYS 3 – 6
TIME & TIDE CHONGWE CAMP, LOWER ZAMBEZI VALLEY
Classic Safari Tent – Full Board
This morning you will be transferred to Livingstone Airport for your flight to Lower Zambezi. On arrival at Royal Airstrip in the Lower Zambezi Valley you will be met and transferred to Time & Tide Chongwe Camp, set at the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers against a beautiful mountainous backdrop. This camp has the best views in the Lower Zambezi and is surrounded by wild beauty. This is the only stretch on the Zambezi River where one finds National Parks on both banks of the river – the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia and the famed Mana Pools World Heritage Site in Zimbabwe.
Your accommodation is in a Classic Safari Tent with panoramic views along the Chongwe River, a spacious open air bathroom and a porch with comfortable lounge chairs. Facilities include an overhead fan, British 3 pin plugs and wifi.
The main lodge has dining areas, a bar, lounge and pool. You will enjoy the wildlife hide which is great for photography and spotting rare nocturnal animals.
Sit outside your tent, listening to playful vervet monkeys scampering in the winterthorn trees overhead. Before you, an elephant wades across the languid river, dwarfed by the mountainous escarpment beyond. The resident hippos bellow their displeasure at this intrusion, breaking the tranquillity. A warm breeze drifts past, carrying the earthy aroma of the river. Lean back and breathe deeply, letting the energy of this extraordinary, wild land revitalise your mind and soul.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in Lower Zambezi National Park, walking safaris, seasonal boating safaris, sleepout under the stars, seasonal canoeing safaris, seasonal tiger fishing, children’s activities and cultural experiences.
The small number of camps in Lower Zambezi National Park keep it free from overcrowding. The area is best known for its impressive variety of safari activities – enjoy drives to walking safaris, or take to the rivers on a boat cruise or canoeing safari, or try your hand at tiger fishing.

DAYS 6 – 9
KAFUNTA RIVER LODGE, SOUTH LUANGWA

After breakfast you will be transferred to Royal Airstrip by road for your flight to Mfuwe Airport where you will be met and transferred to Kafunta River Lodge, located on the Luangwa River just outside South Luangwa National Park and overlooking the game-rich floodplains. Beyond the plain is the Luangwa River and one of the best game viewing areas of the magical South Luangwa National Park, the premier park in Zambia and one of the best national parks in all of Africa.
Accommodation is in a Luxury Private Safari Chalet with facilities that include a spacious room with sitting area, private veranda with stunning views, ensuite bathroom, mosquito nets, ceiling fan, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities and a safe.
Lodge facilities include an extensive lounge and bar, multiple wooden dining decks, wildlife photographic hide, safe drinking water & refillable water bottles, swimming pool & natural hot tub, wellness spa & gym, complimentary wifi in main area.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives, walking safaris, birding safaris, night drives and cultural tours.

DAYS 9 & 10
THREE RIVERS CAMP, SOUTH LUANGWA
Luxury Safari Tent – Full Board
Today you will be transferred to Three Rivers Camp on a 2 hour game drive taking you dense mopane forests and remote villages while bordering the national park. The secluded Bush Camp is tucked away under ageless sausage trees where the Lusungazi and Kapamba Rivers join their bigger sister, the Luangwa River. With the river’s white sandy beaches on one side and game-rich lagoon on the other, the location is spectacular, in pure wilderness with no other toursit or vehicle around.
Accommodation is in a Luxury Safari Tent with facilities that include a spacious room with sittin area, large terrace with indoor & otdoor showers, mosquito nets, ceiling fan,solar electricity and safe.
Camp facilities include an elegant lounge and bar under canvas, candle-lit dinners by the river, large viewing deck & fireplace,
waterhole in the middle of the camp, safe drinling water & refillable water bottles and laundry facilities.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives and bush walks, night drives on the way back to camp and excellent stargazing.

DAY 11
END OF SAFARI
