South Luangwa National Park, one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, covers 9,050 sq.kms and is situated in eastern Zambia close to the Malawi border. The Luangwa River forms the southern border of the park and supports large populations of hippos and crocodiles.

It is a beautiful park with diverse habitats that support an abundance of big and small game and is well known for its good leopard sightings and walking safaris in the dry season. Large concentration of animals can be found in and around the Luangwa River making it one of Africa’s most densely populated reserves. There are 60 different mammal species and over 400 different bird species in the park, but no rhinos.

Visits to South Luangwa National Park are recommended in the dry season as access to many areas between December and March are restricted due to road conditions.

Safari camps and lodges in and around the park offer some of the most exceptional guided wildlife safaris in Africa to include day and night game drives, bush walks and walking safaris.
