Khama Rhino Sanctuary is located 30 kms north of Serowe in southern Botswana and is a perfect stopover for tourists en route to or from Maun. It is about 50 sq.kms in size and was established in 1989 to conserve black and white rhinos which had been heavily poached in Botswana.
Apart from white and black rhino, there is an abundance of game for such a small reserve which include giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, oryx, impala, springbok, red hartebeest, warthog, jackal and leopard. Gameviewing in Khama Rhino Sanctuary is good due to the large open pans and waterholes where most of the animals congregate, especially in the late afternoon.
Accommodation in Khama Rhino Sanctuary consists of chalets and a beautiful large camping area.There is also a restaurant and swimming pool and guided open vehicle game drives and bush walks are offered.
