Despite being a small country, Swaziland has the advantage of some diverse landscapes, from the mountainous western region to the low lying eastern region known as Lowveld. This savanna bushveld is ideal for wildlife and several game parks and nature reserves are found here.
Hlane covers about 300 sq. kms and has a variety of big game and offers catered and self catering accommodation and camping.
Mkhaya is a refuge for endangered species like rhino and offers game drives and walks.
Mlawula covers about 160 sq. kms and is well worth a visit. Although it is mainly in the Lowveld, it extends into the Lubombo Mountains which separate Swaziland from Mozambique. There are walking trails, a variety of game and some attractive camps, especially Mapelepele on a mountain top with open air bath tubs that overlook a river gorge below.
